Global Category Manager (2103226) – Base Metals - Iselin, NJ
Where the Chemistry Happens
We are seeking a professional like you who is passionate about Procurement and enjoys both strategic and tactical execution and negotiation. You will lead global negotiations for base metals, ensuring a competitive advantage for BASF. You will routinely engage with the associated business units and suppliers in an effort to align supplier capabilities with BASF strategic priorities and explore creative and strategic supply solutions. You will also develop and implement global category strategies.
This is an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate your high degree of entrepreneurial drive, demonstrated problem solving skills, and business value creation know-how. You will also get to share your ability to manage relationships with internal partners and suppliers, with a proven track record of delivering results. You will also provide functional leadership to a global team of buyers for base metals. Although not required, any experience you may have in leading cross-functional and cross-business unit teams, exposure to strategy development, and industrial manufacturing environments will be advantageous in this role.
Formula for Success
Leveraging your education in Chemistry, Engineering, Marketing, Economy, Supply Chain, or a related field and your experience, preferably in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, and/or Sales and Marketing, you will develop global supply strategies. This will include working closely with the respective business unit(s) and the Procurement network to develop and implement sourcing strategies for products related to this portfolio.
Your ability to lead and influence others with your strong interpersonal communication skills and your contract negotiation expertise will be essential as you lead and manage the sourcing process (RFI, RFQ, RFP, etc.) for key strategic contracts and highly complex negotiations to ensure the most competitive supply advantage for BASF.
Working as a team-oriented professional who is capable of working in a multi-task environment, with the ability to make and implement decisions with limited information, you will provide relationship management for key suppliers, which will include monitoring performance metrics, resolving claims and/or disputes, market intelligence, and other contributing factors affecting supply availability and pricing of products procured.
Relying on your ability to communicate with all levels and various teams inside a complex organization, you will act as procurement’s account manager for CC’s battery materials and base metal services business.
Your demonstrated market knowledge, strategy development, and implementation with a focus on customer orientation will be a valued asset as you conduct market intelligence research by interacting with key suppliers, industry associations, and internal stakeholders to collect industry-relevant information and rationalizing to assess impact current and future to BASF.
Your ability to manage ambiguity and to provide clear functional leadership for a group of global buyers will help you to ensure success in a fast-paced environment.
