What you can expect
Be part of a team that shapes crop protection in a way that it will look like tomorrow and provide agronomic insights to foster a disruptive crop protection business model.
You drive globally novel pest and disease solutions within Digital Farming with a focus on concept advancement how to combine mechanistic disease and pest models with data driven approaches.
You are passionate about developing and applying cutting-edge agronomic models for digital products using programming languages like Python or R.
Moreover, you coordinate development activities of dedicated tools from early development to a final product by testing and refining predictive models against new datasets.
You orchestrate activities by integrating ideas from a broad range of stakeholder concepts together with regional and global team members.
Furthermore, you identify priorities and quick wins for solution development within chosen key crops and geographies along BASF's portfolio strategy.
You deliver results in a given time in a cross-functional project-driven organization and adapt development steps and milestones in close alignment with the overall Digital Farming offering.
You benchmark pest and disease model concepts globally from an agronomy perspective and coordinate Digital Farming partnering activities in conjunction with local/regional Digital Farming representatives.
What we expect
You have an university degree (PhD or Master) in agronomy, agricultural science, plant production, crop modeling, data science or an equivalent field.
You have several years of experience in pest and disease modeling, expertise as a developer or user of agronomic or environmental prediction models required.
You are strong in theoretical concepts of data-driven disease and pest modelling and have an affinity to precision agriculture, as well as ability to transfer decision-making into algorithm and to translate concepts into digital offerings.
Moreover, you have an ability to contribute to BASF's ambition of sustainable digital agriculture and therefore high interact with technology and engineering teams.
You are a team player (m/f) with strong experimentation and leadership skills and have an ability to work in a highly dynamic interdisciplinary and international environment, including willingness to travel internationally.
You are fluent in English, both written as well as spoken and preferably have additional language skills (German, Portuguese, French).
