What you can expect

As part of the enzyme process development team, the laboratory team leader will play an integral role in leading a fermentation lab team in the development and optimization of processes in bench-scale fermentation then scale-up and technology transfer to the pilot and production plants.

  • You will be responsible for leading a team of fermentation technicians.

  • For the enzyme production in bench-scale fermentation you will develop and optimate fungal fermentation processes.

  • With the process development as well as the product management teams you will discuss the results and align on the way forward.

  • You will collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, regulatory and marketing colleagues regionally as well as globally.

What we expect

  • PhD in biotechnology, microbiology, bioprocess engineering or another relevant biological sciences discipline

  • experience with bioprocess development and optimization in bench-scale fermentation

  • physiological understanding of production hosts as well as knowledge of scale up of fermentation processes from lab to pilot and/or production-scale are beneficial

  • strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate within a large multidisciplinary team, experience in managing small teams is a plus

  • excellent planning skills, managing experimental work to fixed deadlines

  • improvement of processes using statistical methodologies is a plus
