What you can expect

The Materials Engineering unit makes significant contributions to the safety, reliability and economic efficiency of our plants and supports the marketing of BASF products by providing materials engineering expertise. This applies to development, large-scale implementation as well as during the operational phase of our production plants.

  • Your task is the condition assessment of components of chemical plants such as pressure vessels and pipelines.

  • You will process a wide variety of tasks from our production plants and independently perform mechanical stress analyses of components under complex loads.

  • Based on these, you evaluate the integrity of the component in operational use.

  • As part of damage investigations, you will identify the critical stress variables as well as causes of damage and develop concrete remedial measures.

  • With your knowledge of materials and their properties, you advise our operations and planning units.

What we expect

  • master's degree in mechanical or civil engineering

  • sound knowledge of engineering mechanics ideally in combination with application experience in the field of numerical calculation methods

  • expert knowledge of the material behavior of components under complex stresses

  • confident communication in German and English
