What you can expect
As a Post-Doctoral Scientist within our department White Biotechnology Research you are part of an interdisciplinary team developing microbial solutions for industrial applications.
You will be involved in the evaluation of industrial waste streams / alternative raw materials and their potential for biogas formation or fermentative production of chemicals.
You will collaboratively plan, coordinate and perform experiments to validate early innovation ideas.
Furthermore, you will be responsible for literature, competitor and patent analyses in your research area.
In cooperation with other scientists of the department, internal service units as well as external partners, you will have the chance to experience research in an industrial environment.
What we expect
Doctoral degree in biological sciences or a related field with a focus in microbiology and metabolic pathways with excellent final grades
Extensive practical experience in anaerobic digestion and alternative renewable resources for fermentation e.g. cellulose or lignin utilization by microorganisms
Familiar with latest technological developments in the field of anaerobic digestion, pretreatment of complex substrates and process optimization
A broad spectrum of modern molecular biology methods
In depth understanding of microbial metabolic pathways, degradation of organic substances and microbial physiology
Strong communication skills in German as well as English and the ability to work as part of interdisciplinary teams
