What you can expect

Within our Global Intellectual Property unit, you will work in the position of Intellectual Property Counsel (m/f) focusing on digital technologies, a role in which you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • You will prepare patent applications, monitor and support the grant procedures before the relevant offices and defend our patents against oppositions and nullity actions by third parties.

  • You will draft freedom-to-operate opinions on BASF products and methods.

  • You will also be responsible for the enforcement of BASF's intellectual property rights as well as for defending BASF against third party claims.

  • You will prepare contract drafts (confidentiality, cooperation and license agreements) and participate in contract negotiations.

  • You will advise the operational units on the strategic use of IP protection instruments.

What we expect

  • After earning your degree in a technical or engineering-related discipline, preferably engineering, physics, mathematics, or computer science, you have gained several years of professional experience in the field of patents.

  • You have solid knowledge of European patent law and are interested in the challenges posed by advancing digitalization.

  • You have knowledge of license technologies / licensing and are familiar with digital technologies and their application in different fields.

  • You take on new challenges independently and with motivation and enthusiasm and a pronounced strategic and entrepreneurial mindset.

  • You communicate and present arguments convincingly in English, German is an advantage.
