What you can expect
The Community of Practice Artificial Intelligence (CoP AI), part of Global Digital Services, represents the central point for Artificial Intelligence. The dedicated team of data scientists support use cases of strategic importance to the BASF and ensures the application of Business Grade Artificial Intelligence. We focus heavily not only on developing state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms, but also on building end-to-end solutions with strong emphasis on scalability, reproducibility, and transparency.
As an ML Engineer in the CoP AI, you will be working on projects focusing on sales in the agrochemical sector. In particular:
You will support digitalization projects from ideation, over first prototypes until commissioning. Beyond that you will provide service & support during runtime.
You will actively identify needs in sales and translate, develop, and manage them into ML software specifications. In this context you will work closely with our software engineers, data scientists and architects.
You will cover the entire data-science model lifecycle with a strong emphasis on model productization and MLOps.
You will develop new algorithms, models and concepts applying state-of-the-art data science and work with the latest software frameworks and technologies.
What we expect
Background in computational sciences, engineering, or other data-centric disciplines (Bachelor or Master of Science).
2-5 years of work experience (non-academic) in data science and/or ML engineering .
Expert knowledge of Python with focus on machine learning and data science related libraries (e.g., Pandas, scikit-learn, TensoFlow, PyTorch etc.). Familiarity with object-oriented programming is a plus.
Hands-on experience working with large data sets, relational databases, data integration and related technologies (SQL, Spark, Databricks, etc.).
Hands-on experience with MLOps processes (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment) and automating ML workflows.
Experience with software development, preferably for cloud-based applications in an agile setup (e.g., Kanban, Scrum).
Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English. Knowledge of other European languages is a plus.
