What you can expect
Our unit Development Basecoat & Primer acts as a partner to internal and external customers by setting new standards for them in the development of new basecoat and primer technologies.
In this position, you will be responsible for managing a laboratory and for development activities in the water-based coating segment for automotive basecoats.
Coordinating global development and lab activities will be a part of your tasks, as will cooperating with other units, particularly customer labs, the research team, patent department and production.
You will develop completely new water-based coating formulations with significantly improved ecological and cost efficiency. In this process, you will evaluate new raw materials that completely reach the requirements of our customers.
Furthermore, you will organize and communicate project results clearly as well as ongoing reconciliation of development results with costs, performance and targets in order to satisfy international environmental legislation.
What we expect
You hold a PhD in chemistry and have acquired solid knowledge and skills in the area of polymer chemistry as well as polymer physics.
You have gained experience in polymer synthesis as well as detailed knowledge and skills in the field of polymer characterization and polymer analysis.
You will be an especially good fit for us if you have expertise in the field of aqueous polymer solutions, rheology of aqueous polymer solutions, suspensions and/or microemulsions and in describing these systems using theoretical models.
Ideally, you have already gained initial experience in the area of development and optimization of emulsions (especially microemulsions) in an industrial setting, such as in the food, pharmaceutical or cosmetics industry.
Furthermore, you have excellent English and German language skills and skills in at least one other foreign language and you are intimately familiar with the standard computer applications.
