Where the Chemistry Happens…

BASF is looking for a passionate Area Sales Manager for the Northeast Area. In this position, you will assist the Area Manager in managing and developing the sales personnel within your assigned area. You will provide support in both the development and training of local Senior Sales Representatives, Sales Representatives, and Disp. Service Technicians. You will provide support on technical issues and assist in product and sales training. You will maintain local customer relationships by improving business at existing accounts with key management. This position implements and complies with Company initiatives, policies, and procedures.

Formula for Success: You Will…

  • Assist the Account Manager in his/her assigned area with area revenue and profitability improvement plans by identifying target unsold, undersold, and up-selling opportunities; new product opportunities and profit improvement accounts; identifying segment potential and developing market share targets; and developing a resource deployment plan.

  • Help in Area’s customer satisfaction, and in contribution Profit & Loss.

  • Coach and mentor direct reports in assigned area for performance improvement and professional development and training.

  • Assist sales personnel in the up-sell of target accounts in the area by providing account-centric product solutions, driving new technology, and expanding relationships, as well as maintaining existing relationships.

  • Collaborate with the Area Manager to coordinate new product introductions within the Area.

  • Support sales personnel on technical issues.

  • Maintain leadership in local industry organizations.

  • Inform appropriate organizational function of competitor and market intelligence.

  • Assure standards of safety, environmental, team, and individual performance are met in a high-performance, team-based organization

  • Address and raise the EHS standards at BASF.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • Bachelor’s degree required; OR Associate’s/Technical degree plus 8 years of offsetting work experience; OR High School diploma/equivalent plus 10 years of offsetting work experience.

  • A minimum of 5 years of sales experience required.

  • Sales experience in the construction chemicals industry.

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, executive selling skills and expertise, significant leadership and team building skills, and basic financial analysis skills.

  • Intermediate computer skills.
