Wherethe Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to be responsible for the electrical design, installation, and completion of capital project improvements within operating units at the MidGA site. You will work closely in Project Teams consisting of Operations, Technology, Design, EHS, and Procurement personnel to ensure the safe and effective implementation of plant expansion, process debottlenecking, and infrastructure improvement projects.

Formulafor Success

  • Leveraging your Electrical Engineering degreeand your experience in a chemical/petrochemical facility or other similarmanufacturing environment, you will develop the electrical portion of project scopes,generate and/or obtain cost estimates, and prepare appropriation fundingrequests when applicable. Additionally, you will ensure that appropriateproject safety reviews are completed as required both before and afterapproval and utilize applicable value-improving practices (VIP's) tooptimize project scope and costs.

  • Your firm commitmentto compliance and safety will be evident as you seek compliance with allenvironmental, safety, and health requirements, and promote a safe workingenvironment for project execution.Additionally, you will adhere to current corporate and plant requirementsfor equipment/materials specifications and vendor preferences.

  • Successfullyengaging across the organization, you will develop and maintain partnershipswith assigned project manufacturing representatives to execute projects frominitial scoping and funding, through detailed engineering and procurement,startup and commissioning, and then final documentation and closure. Additionally, you will participate andcontribute on engineering discipline teams via ad hoc assignments with otherSite and North America engineers to review, update, and develop projectmanagement procedures, guidelines, standards, and practices.

  • Your strongorganizational skills and extensive knowledge of industry -relevant designcodes and standards will serve you well as you request and coordinate requiredprocess and design engineering and design resources (from the site or corporategroups or outside engineering vendors) to prepare engineering designdeliverables and to procure equipment, fabricated materials, and services.

  • Your strongcomputer skills will be essential as you maintain SAP project data entries,monitor project progress through scheduling and other tools, perform projectstatus reporting, and control spending through appropriate tracking,forecasting, and adjustments.

  • Working withProcurement and complying with applicable guidelines, you will performprocurement activities as required, including preparing specifications, issuingrequisitions, evaluating bids, and dealing with vendors.

  • Communicatingeffectively, you will request necessary construction and commissioningresources from Construction and others as required to install the scope ofwork.

  • Relying on anyproject engineering or project management experience you may have, you willmonitor and support construction activities to ensure that projects arecompleted according to the design deliverables, quality standards, and plantrequirements, and that pre-startup safety reviews are conducted. You will also follow up to ensure thatOperations achieves a successful project startup, and that any project-relatedaction items are completed.

  • Your strongorganizational skills will be a valued asset as you close projects perguidelines, and ensure proper documentation of files, records, databases, anddrawings to meet regulatory and BASF requirements.

  • Demonstratingyour entrepreneurial mindset and leadership qualities, you will promoteidentification of lessons learned from completed projects to improve workpractices. Additionally, you couldmentor and coach newer engineers, including participants in the ProfessionalDevelopment Program.
