Sr. Production Engineer (1805638) – McIntyre, GA
Where the Chemistry Happens
We are looking for a professional like you to seek out and solve process and production problems and create improvements in the plant/mill operations. In this role, you will advise and/or train the production supervision and hourly personal during the startup and/or development of new processes in collaboration with a Process Engineer or team. You will analyze productivity, quality, cost, and maintenance data and use that information to optimize existing plant/mill equipment. Additionally, you will efficiently and effectively evaluate new or proposed equipment for the optimization of processes.
Formula for Success
Your previous leadership experience and ability to work with limited direction will be essential as you serve as a technical resource and coach for area leaders and the plant Operations Manager and serve as the deputy Operations Manager for a plant, as assigned.
Leveraging your education in a technical discipline combined with your experience in the mineral or chemical industry or related experience dealing with process equipment, you will conduct experiments and carry out projects to improve the plant/mill processes or solve process problems - keeping the plant Operations Manager advised of activities and progress.
Demonstrating your computer literacy (particularly in the use of spreadsheet formats), you will maintain accurate daily records of work performed, notarize in the monthly report, and prepare reports as required.
As a proactive self-starter and analytical problem solver, you will conduct experimental work within budgetary and business guidelines; ensuring that you correctly allocate cost to projects during testing.
Utilizing your thorough understanding of kaolin processing equipment and control systems and your working knowledge of chemical and corrosive environments, you will set up, maintain and operate test equipment and/or production equipment being used for experimental work in a safe work environment for yourself and others.
As a subject matter expert, you will train area leaders and/or operators in the use, maintenance, safety and operation of test equipment and new or modified production equipment. Additionally, you will develop training manuals for new installations and train operating supervision and hourly personnel and modify and/or develop training manuals for modifications to production equipment or processes. Occasionally, you will conduct refresher training for area leader(s)/supervisors on a frequent basis sufficient to ensure that they have a firm grasp of the capabilities of equipment under their supervision.
Your thorough knowledge of functions and designs of the mill, plants, maintenance of rotating machinery and various other equipment will be vital as you provide cover letters, scope of work and/or input for capital necessary to optimize existing equipment such as mechanisms for increased operator control. You will also serve as Manufacturing Representative for capital projects.
Having thorough knowledge of the plant/mill process, including process controls and quality parameters, with a working knowledge of the process function of each piece of equipment will be a valued asset as you will be expected to learn new equipment as soon as possible after its installation.
Successfully engaging across the site, you will work with Reliability and Quality Engineers to develop production strategies to improve quality, reduce cost and keep knowledge at state-of-the-art levels.
