Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to serve as a key strategic senior leadership role at BASF Canada, with an active engagement across sites, businesses, North America functions, as well as external customers and partners. This position acts effectively as the COO of the organization by providing leadership and direction to the Canadian organization and is accountable for the strategic planning and successful execution of a broad range of activities in the areas including, but not limited to, Finance, Controlling, Tax, Procurement, Supply Chain/Logistics, IT, Engineering, and Real Estate.

In this role, you will hold disciplinary and/or functional responsibility for a team of 50 /- individuals. Additionally, you will be a key driver of local and regional corporate initiatives, projects, and communities.

You will serve on the Canadian Executive Committee (Legal Entity Governance Committee), the Canadian Leadership Team (Operational Board), as well as the North America Finance Leadership Team and the North America Controlling Sounding Board. As a chemical industry member, this role leads and/or supports the applicable Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC) community(ies).

Formula for Success

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or another Business-related field; MBA considered a strong asset

  • 6 years of experience including senior management roles

  • Proven managerial and leadership experience managing large and diverse teams; strong leadership, negotiation and influencing skills and ability to work effectively with, and influence senior leadership

  • Demonstrated cross-functional / business experience considered a strong asset

  • Strong decision-making skills and excellent interpersonal, communication, personal motivation & personal adaptability skills

  • Ability to challenge status quo, inspire others, pioneer innovative solutions and drive change throughout the organization

  • Agility to act quickly with full accountability for a broad range of topics (safety, talent & diversity, strategic growth, customer experience metrics, simplification, etc.)

  • Embrace diversity and talent development - effective coach, mentor and leader in guiding and developing team members

  • Up to 20% travel is expected, subject to business needs and changing environment
