Communications Specialist

12-14 month contract

Where the Chemistry Happens…

The Communications Specialist will contribute to and strengthen the development, implementation and quality for BASF Canada’s corporate internal and external communication strategies. More specifically, they will manage digital communications platforms including social media, intranet, internet and graphic design activities by creating engaging content for both internal and external audiences.

Formula for Success: You Will…

  • Develop the overall strategy and manage the day-to-day execution of the company intranet and internet websites. Includes creating new engaging content and updating existing content. Collaborate with Legal & Compliance to ensure AODA compliance and support with external chatbot and customer portal implementation.

  • Provide strategic social media direction and counsel for company initiatives. Responsible for strategy, process, editorial management and implementation of social media content. Acts as point person for social response matrix and overall share of voice.

  • Design and develop illustrations, layouts, posters and digital signage for internal and external usage in line with the company’s branding requirements. Provide support with recording and editing video content for internal and external use.

  • Track, report and analyze performance and data in corporate communications initiatives internally and externally. Includes social media, media relations, newsletters, emails and town halls

  • Support Social Engagement initiatives to promote community engagement through proactive content development across multiple channels

  • Work as part of a cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to generate content and ideas in line with the company’s strategy and in support of various brand initiatives

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Political Science, or related field.

  • 5 years’ experience in communications

  • Proficient graphic design knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite

  • Strong knowledge in social media management

  • Strong writing and editing skills

  • The ability to create proactive communications and dynamic content that promotes and protects the BASF brand.

  • Exceptional interpersonal, public speaking and writing skills to represent the BASF brand with key internal and external stakeholders.

  • A strategic thinker with a meticulous attention to detail, working well with others and meeting deadlines.

  • The ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

  • The ability to solve complex problems/issues thoughtfully, strategically and under pressure.

  • Current understanding of media trends and technology - constantly looking for ways to improve processes and bring creative ideas forward.

  • The ability to be innovative, organized and self-motivated with a keen interest in driving strategic messages to key internal and external role-players.

  • To be a problem solver that’s skilled in adapting to changing circumstances in a busy environment.

  • Socially savvy, with proven results in driving the evolution of a brand’s social presence forward in a positive and strategic way.
