BASF Senior Regulatory Product Manager in Mississauga, Ontario

The SRPM is responsible for a leading a team of several Regulatory Team Members. The individual is expected to assume leadership on teams both internally and externally. Externally, leadership opportunities include industry wide-forums, such as task forces and trade association committees. The SRPM provides technical advice and submission strategies as they align to the Canadian Business.

The SRPM is also responsible for a portfolio of products. This includes preparing regulatory submissions, handles a portfolio of products with the goal of ensuring timely registrations that meet commercial objectives. Current product registrations are maintained and supported with appropriate technical information as part of a broad product stewardship process. The RPM has an area of expertise in science or policy that allows specialization in developing regulatory strategy for BASF Ag products in Canada.

-Review and prepare data packages for submission to the CFIA, PMRA and other authorities ie EC (CEPA)

-Work with other BASF Regulatory staff to prepare technical documents (summaries/waivers) for Canadian submissions

-Monitor Canadian and international regulatory trends and serve on industry/expert committees to achieve balanced and practical regulatory requirements.

-In their area of expertise, the RPM provides advice to the Regulatory team and Management on best practices to support registration and commercialization of BASF products.

The RPM requires a minimum background of a university degree in science, preferably with a post-graduate degree with a minimum of 10 years experience. The incumbent should have the ability to discuss regulatory issues with government authorities on topics including technical information as well as policy matters. Strong negotiating skills are mandatory. The position requires knowledge of chemistry and general biology and an understanding of risk assessment. A specialization in a scientific discipline relevant to agricultural regulatory science (such as chemistry, environmental science etc) is highly desirable. High degree of independence in developing regulatory strategies and regulatory stakeholder advocacy, managing people, and day to day decision making. Decision authority on more complex situations based on experience and with management concurrence. Consultation with supervisor for second opinions may occur on an occasional basis, particularly on business-critical issues.
