Distributor Account Manager (DAM) – West / Midwest (1902840) – Remote Position

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to join our Corporate Distribution (NC/AD) organization, supporting the Regional Distributors located in the West & Midwest US. You will be based in a location that has easy access to an airport, allowing you to service your regional accounts. Travel for the role is anticipated to be up to 75%.

As a Distributor Account Manager, you will be responsible for growing our Distributors within the West & Midwest territory, in both sales revenue and profit.

Formula for Success

  • Leveraging your education in Chemistry, Business, or a related field and your commercial experience in one of more of the following industries: HI&I, Coatings, Nutrition, Plastics, Food, or Pharma, you will act as the primary interface with our Distribution network serving BASF Corporation, managing a broad product portfolio in the West/Midwest United States. This includes interfacing with key management personnel and distributors for businesses serviced, establishing relationships with all levels in the distributor's organization, especially central decision makers.

  • Your strong interpersonal skills will serve you well as you achieve a position as a broad-based “trusted advisor" to key decision makers within the account and champion growth opportunities for all BASF BU's.

  • Thinking strategically, you will build and manage a pipeline of opportunities for BASF with distributors and utilize our CRM tool daily to capture all sales “Lead To Order” information equivalent to 150% of annual sales revenue.

  • Your strong computer skills will aid you in utilizing the CRM tool daily to log sales calls with complete information on existing opportunities to report back to the BASF business units.

  • Using your experience in both customer relationship management and negotiation, you will develop commercial proposals and provide solutions to competitive issues and end customer problems. You will act as a central point of contact for distributors requiring assistance in putting together customer sales proposals.

  • Your strong organizational skills will be essential as you will be responsible for pipeline management by ensuring that all identified opportunities are tracked to completion with distributor accounts.

  • Demonstrating a clear understanding of the value chain both upstream and downstream (cost to serve), you will evaluate distributor channel activities to ensure compliance with internal policies and guidelines. You will function as an advisor on matters of equitable and ethical business practices.

  • Your keen attention to detail will be helpful as you develop and manage the necessary commercial agreements with Distributor including Master Supply Agreements, Product Riders, Non-disclosure Agreements, and Incentive programs.

  • Successfully coordinating with business units, you will establish appropriate distributor training programs and assist in the implementation of the training programs.
