Where the Chemistry Happens

The Product Manager maintains a portfolio of products that may be part of one or more product groups or a segment range. It is the Product Manager’s responsibility to develop a portfolio strategy for relevant regional products. They will collect regional portfolio input to account for market specificities and to guide product introductions, R&D and pipeline management as well as give input related to product and process service needs. Product managers will participate in and manage the roll-out of new products in the North American region. The product manager will define regional price ranges for the product group as guardrails for the North American region and understand differences relative to other global regions/countries.

Formula for Success

  • Prepare and lead product performance reviews within North America

  • Coordination of tactical approach towards completion

  • Manage product flow in conjunction with Supply Chain and operations to optimize asset utilization

  • Oversee product compliance with quality, safety and regulatory requirements

  • Involvement in relevant production issues (scale up)

  • Coordinates with R&D respective segments and regional business development

  • Defines R&D priorities and manages the R&D milestones for given portfolio

  • Develop proposals for value-adding services for the product group

  • Check product cost benchmarking and optimize margins

  • Manages portfolio article harmonization in conjunction with the North American region

  • Support on design and execution of marketing & communication e.g. Trade Fairs

Ingredients for Success

  • Degree BS in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or other technical degree with relevant experience

  • Knowledge of product introduction, costing, pricing and sales analysis

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Basic skills with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, advanced skills with Excel

  • Thought provoking and persuasive presentation abilities

  • Demonstrated track record of effective people influence

  • Strong analytical thought process for analyzing market approaches, market wants and needs and measures of effectiveness

  • Understanding of marketing analytics and how to implement to measure the impact on sales

  • Developing, tracking and maintaining portfolio performance metrics

  • Customer centric perspective and attitude

  • Ability to foster a cohesive team environment

  • Effective time management skills, meeting multiple deadlines.
