Where the chemistry happens…

We are seeking an early career professional like you to serve as an Automation Specialist in the Residue Analytics team of the Global Environmental Fate Group at BASF's research facility in Research Triangle Park, NC.

In this role, you will join an established interdisciplinary team focused on conducting studies to support the registration of novel BASF fungicides, insecticides and herbicides. Specifically, you will support development, validation and conduct of residue analytical methods that ensure the safety of our products for consumers, the environment, and wildlife. We will look for you to be a self-starter, with strong team orientation and adaptability to help drive diverse projects.

This role requires that you be willing to handle compounds of unknown toxicity according to well- established safety procedures.

As a Automation Specialist - Residue Analytics, You Create Chemistry By...

• Assisting in the development and validation of analytical methods for small molecule pesticides/metabolites in a variety of agriculturally relevant matrices

• Performing sample work-up using validated analytical methods

• Helping to develop automated methods, as well as executing them and conducting elementary troubleshooting

• Working independently in a fast-paced multidisciplinary research team with minimal oversight

• Functioning in a GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) environment, in which most work is audited by Quality Assurance (QA)

If you...

• A BS, MS or PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, or similar scientific field

• Minimum 1 year of experience in preparing samples for trace-level analysis of organic compounds, including extraction and clean-up

• Strong interest in and/or experience with implementing automated lab processes for streamlining sample prep workflows. Hands-on experience using robotic laboratory equipment, such as the Hamilton STAR liquid handling system, is a plus.

• Effective communication, observation and collaboration skills to facilitate you supporting studies, and contributing to technical reports submitted to regulatory agencies

• Basic knowledge of experiment execution and data analysis, and proficiency in commonly used applications (e.g., MS Office)

• Experience working in a regulatory environment is highly advantageous
