The Global Sourcing Lead is accountable for safeguarding Professional & Specialty Solutions (P&SS) delegated purchasing authority, which includes: management of the global Delegated Procurement activities for products, services, and locations under the purchasing scope of (P&SS); monitoring for compliance of delegated procurement activities and processes against established policies; and coordination of global P&SS portfolio inventories.

The role is responsible for ensuring that P&SS delegated sourcing activities adhere to BASF's Minimum Procurement Requirements including compliance with BASF's Supplier Code of Conduct, German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act, fulfillment of corporate sustainability targets via supplier assessments and audits, identification and mitigation of relevant procurement risks, establishment and management of control activities for fraud prevention, management of supplier quality issues, and driving general operational efficiencies that ensure a sustainable and profitable future for P&SS while guarding our long-term relationships with our suppliers and tollers.

As a Global Sourcing Lead - RTP, NC, You Create Chemistry By...

  • Act as the conduit between P&SS Delegated Procurement sourcing and the AP Delegated Procurement Community.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain relevant compliance and control processes, instruments, and documents (i.e P&SS Delegation Scope, Buying Group arrangements, Release Authority, and Internal Control Design) in coordination with AP Delegated Procurement Office.

  • Coordinate delegated procurement activities with other sourcing units and with relevant Supplier and Contract Owners outside of P&SS.

  • In designated cases, directly take on the role of "Buyer" in support of the global P&SS organization with responsibilities including supplier contract ownership, implementation, monitoring, and non-conformance management. As well as lead sourcing activities and negotiations with suppliers in support of P&SS delegated buyers.

  • Ensure all relevant P&SS stakeholders have appropriate system access and authorization (SAP) and related training. And in case of personnel changes, manage communication and implementation of related changes including organizing knowledge transfer, necessary training, and system updates.

  • Support global business steering by organizing and steering inventory management topics in partnership with the Supply Chain Planners and relevant regional and global stakeholders responsible for P&SS assets.

  • Establish and maintain impactful inventory management dashboards/Power BI tools to create transparency of actual and future inventory projections for Global and Regional/Commercial teams and proactively steer decisions in alignment with supply chain and Global Strategic Marketing and Operations colleagues. Coordinate supplier compliance reviews and resolve compliance issues in support of delegated buyers.

If you...

  • Have Bachelor's Degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related discipline.

  • Possess 7-10 years of professional experience in Procurement, Operations, Supply Chain Management or a related field.

  • Have Experience directly managing sourcing and purchasing activities in a global organization.

  • Have proficiency in data analysis, forecasting, and risk management to identify opportunities for optimization and cost reduction.

  • Own superior analytical skills and familiarity with enterprise planning software systems (i.e. SAP/ERP).

  • Possess strong problem-solving abilities to address procurement risks and implement corrective actions.

  • Understand ethical business practices and compliance with relevant laws and regulations related to supply chain management, including sustainability and social responsibility.

  • Have strong negotiation skills and experience with contract and vendor negotiations.
