Where the chemistry happens…

We are looking for a R&D Biology Project Lead (BPL), Herbicides to join a highly motivated and driven Biology R&D team dedicated to creating innovative and sustainable solutions for North American agriculture.

As Biology Project Lead you will provide technical leadership and act as a liaison for assigned herbicide projects on cross functional teams in North America. In this role you will lead the design and coordination of field development programs to support the discovery, selection, and development of new weed control technologies and support commercial products.

This position offers a hybrid working arrangement - minimum 3 days per week onsite at our Research Triangle Park, NC location.

As a R&D Biology Project Lead (BPL), Herbicides, You Create Chemistry By...

  • Leading experimental trial programs for the evaluation of new herbicide compounds and life cycle management of established products. This includes the planning and coordinating of field trials, greenhouse, and lab activities to guiding and supporting product development.

  • Generating efficacy and crop safety data in a timely manner to supporting product registrations and product use directions. Ensuring that the data is properly captured, analyzed, interpreted, and shared with global and regional stakeholders in a timely manner.

  • Determining the appropriate weed spectrum controlled, crops, rates, formulation, application methods and timings and strategies for product labels in close cooperation with Field biology, Regulatory, Formulations and Tech service.

  • Collaborating within APN Biology (US and Canada) and with global Research and Development, Seeds and Traits, Marketing and Technical Service teams in selection of novel herbicides that qualify for early, late, and full development phases.

  • Identifying new technical opportunities and evaluating technologies to contribute to a future profitable and sustainable portfolio.

  • Providing leadership for selection and development of protocols for evaluation of new technologies, digital solutions, and precision application technologies for weed control.

If you...

  • Have a Ph.D. or M.S. degree with a field of study in Weed Science or other Agricultural, Biological or Plant Protection discipline such as Agronomy / Crop Science / Horticulture.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in agriculture sciences. Industry experience preferred.

  • Have knowledge of crop protection research processes/techniques, agronomic and plant protection practices, mode of action, best management practices for resistance management and other sustainable agricultural practices.

  • Have technical knowledge and experience in small plot research, evaluating field trials, data analysis and reporting as well as being skilled at development and delivery of presentations to both external and internal customers.

  • Have working knowledge of North American crop production and herbicide use in crops including corn, soybean, cotton, rice, wheat, tree and vine, and vegetables.

  • Have strong organizational, time management and project management skills which are essential and have the ability to share knowledge and expertise with others. Actively participate on teams to solve problems or achieve team goals.

  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate complex scientific data to audiences of varying backgrounds. As well as excellent computer skills and proficient in various software programs, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word.

  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
