Scientist II –Plant Physiologist (2001985) – Research Triangle Park, NC
Where the Chemistry Happens…
The Plant Physiologist will be a member of the Trait Evaluation function within the BASF Seeds & Traits organization. This team performs critical activities necessary to advance BASF plant biotechnology projects from idea to marketplace, quickly and effectively. These research and development projects focus on enhancing crop tolerance to herbicide, resistance to pest insects and disease, productivity, nutritional value, and overall plant health.
Formula for Success: You Will…
work as part of a team that implements novel phenotypic screens in growth chambers, greenhouse, and field for gene-based trait discovery research
work closely with the project teams in developing strategies and methodologies in the area of Crop Physiology
implement work plans within the Crop Phenotyping group
Bring your degree in Plant Physiology, Horticulture, Agronomy, Plant Breeding or related experience in conducting research with 4 years’ experience in conducting research. Additional experience may be substituted for educational requirement.
Experience with plant management and phenotyping methodologies including use of physiological equipment in lab, greenhouse and /or field environments
Familiarity with data management systems such as Ceres, LIMS, PRISM etc
Ability to measure and evaluate plant performance in controlled and field environments in response to stress conditions and crop protection treatments
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Willing to travel/work 10% of the time to BASF field stations located in NC and IA.
Practical experience in plant management in the field and greenhouse, implementing experimental designs, and performing physiological assays
A Plus if you have:
Experience with digital phenotyping and application of sensor technologies
Experience with integrated data management and analysis including imaging analysis
A basic understanding of genetics and/or molecular biology.
