As a Senior Financial Analyst - Capital Expenditures, you will provide financial expertise to support active ingredient formulation and seed production globally. Responsibilities include steering the target-setting process, supporting global and regional manufacturing strategies, modeling and analyzing future cost developments, developing and maintaining manufacturing performance KPIs, evaluating investments and business cases, and driving and supporting global performance improvement projects.

  • Assuming responsibility for controlling Capital Expenditures for AP Operations globally. Building and allocating budgets based on meaningful prioritization criteria, analyzing and challenging project forecasts, and reporting actual spending and outlook to senior management.

  • Performing financial analyses for capital investments, developing holistic financial business cases to support Global Marketing, Sourcing, or Manufacturing decisions (e.g., make vs. buy, buy vs. lease, or global manufacturing site benchmarking).

  • Driving innovation by developing modern reporting dashboards (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to analyze and steer KPIs related to raw material consumption, cost of goods, and capital expenditures.

  • Supporting all functions within Global Operations in obtaining and analyzing financial and operational information for sound decision-making.

  • Leading discussions across functions and regions, coordinating with multiple stakeholders within Global Operations and BASF central units (Global Technology, Procurement, Global Supply Chain, Global Marketing, Global Manufacturing).

  • Demonstrating strategic thinking, which is a mandatory requirement for the Senior Financial Analyst – Capital Expenditures. The incumbent must be able to apply a deep knowledge of financial concepts to the complex environment of manufacturing processes within a multinational organization. This position requires the ability to develop new, original, and creative solutions and to plan many activities without direct interaction or direction from the manager.

If you...

  • Have a Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A Degree in Economics is preferred.

  • Own a minimum of 8 years of experience in a financial analyst position with a Bachelor's degree (a minimum of 6 years of experience with a Master's degree or experience in Economic Modeling or Operations Research).

  • Possess a background in operations research (OR), controlling, and finance, with experience in manufacturing operations. Excellent knowledge of Dynamic Economic Evaluation Methods (Discounted Cash Flow, Net Present Value) is strongly preferred.

  • Have the ability to influence and convince manufacturing colleagues at various sites of the validity of stretch targets and goals.

  • Possess excellent knowledge of data systems (SAP, Analysis Office, MS Excel) and experience conducting data analysis. Additional experience in advanced data analytical tools is strongly preferred.

  • Have the ability to communicate and collaborate with international colleagues on the Global Operations team and with site controllers on four continents, proven by a track record of international exposure.
