We are looking for a candidate to join our BASF Plant Science division.
Plant Molecular Biologist, Sr Scientist I (1801895)
As a Plant Molecular Biologist you will modify DNA sequences and gene expression levels in order to screen for interesting and valuable plant/crop phenotypes.
Formula for Success: You Will...
You are expected to have excellent working knowledge of plant molecular biology and an understanding of the genotype – phenotype relationship.
Responsibilities will include optimizing strategies for developing and running new work packages within the Genome Editing Key Technology project as the scientific leader of the work in that area. In addition, direct alignment with colleagues working on similar activities in herbicide tolerance will be expected.
This individual contributor role will include responsibilities in transitioning Plant Science to living the competency center model, particularly regarding co-creation of projects with BASF business units.
You will interact closely with multiple functions and therefore must have demonstrated communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…
PhD and 2 years of experience, including at least one Post-Doctoral Fellowship, in molecular biology or a closely-related discipline
Demonstrated success of genome editing in plants
Demonstrated experience with molecular techniques, particularly recent advances in genome editing technologies, preparation of novel transformation vectors and design of such constructs
At least two years demonstrated experience with developing and implementing research strategies in molecular biology.
Demonstrated expertise and experience with gene regulation and the role that plays in plant phenotypes.
Ability to work in a team environment encompassing multiple disciplines.
Demonstrated success working with customers, other researchers, peers, and other departments for at least two years.
Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.
Proficiency in Molecular Biology software tools and Data Management tools.
5 years of experience
Plant Biotech industry experience
A Post-Doctoral fellowship in Genome Editing
Track record of identified and submitted pilot or technology project ideas or successful grant application experience
Experience with oligo directed genome mutagenesis (ODN mutagenesis)
Experience finding mutants within a population by molecular or phenotypic screening methods
Experience in product development
History of mentoring colleagues
