The Sr. Biologist is a member of the Biology team within BASF's North American Agricultural Solutions business. This position is responsible for hands-on research and coordination of a small team of Biologists conducting studies that characterize and lead to optimization of new herbicide candidates and commercial herbicide innovations.
Sr. Biologist I – RTP, NC (1803219)
The Sr. Biologist serves as a biological technical liaison on cross functional teams for assigned herbicide projects. You will coordinates research and development activities for BASF herbicide-related technologies with several different business partners including their Biology group leader, Biology project leader peers, and colleagues from regional and global R&D, formulations, regulatory, as well as sales, marketing and other functional units.
Formula for Success: You Will…
Leveraging your MS or PhD degree in related Agricultural, Biological or Plant Protection disciplines such as Agronomy / Crop Science / Horticulture, Plant Physiology, Plant Protection or Weed Science.
Hands-on research and coordination of RTP Biology Herbicide lab and greenhouse activities.
Design and implementation of studies to support discovery, selection, development and optimization of new herbicide candidates / technologies.
Biological characterization of experimental herbicide plant / soil properties.
Science-based technical support for current commercial products.
Effective communication of results and recommendations with R&D and Business partners.
New formulation crop tolerance and weed control assessment.
New herbicide concept, technology and mixture screening
Adjuvant, safener, rate and timing optimization
Spray solution volume and pH performance effects
Quantitative and biological assessment of mobility and bioavailability for soil applied herbicide candidates
Application uptake / translocation / rainfastness evaluation (including 14C)
Weed resistance confirmation
Data generation for patent support
