Sr. Data Engineer, Digital Farming (2101393) – Research Triangle Park, NC

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are currently seeking a professional like you to join our Digital Farming team. You will have a strong background in software engineering and development and a proven capability to develop robust solutions for the digitalization of agricultural. In this role, you will interface closely with BASF’s Digital Farming team to engineer, develop, and deploy scalable versions of BASF’s extensive agricultural modeling portfolio.

Formula for Success

  • Leveraging your education in Computer Science or a related discipline and your professional experience, you will be responsible for leading and supporting the digital operationalization of our industry leading agricultural modeling portfolio.

  • Applying your advanced skills in Python, and related data science tool kits, you will implement agronomic models (like crop or pest and disease models), weather models, geospatial data processing and machine learning applications in 24/7 operational high availability environments.

  • Employing AWS and the technology stack available to you in AWS, you will engineer your solutions (DynamoDB, Lambda, S3, EC2 instances, etc.) and deliver enterprise scale pathways for the deployment of our modeling portfolio.

  • Using your expertise as full stack developer in accessing, processing, and managing large data sets in various formats and storage systems (e.g., Postgres, MongoDB, Redis, etc. and various geospatial data systems like Geoserver), you will expand and modernize our modeling services.

  • You will design and integrate RESTful APIs to ensure the modeling portfolio is easily accessible for customer facing products and for internal R&D purposes.

  • Your experience in a CI / CD environment with tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity, GitHub, and others will serve you well as you collaborate within our development communities.

  • Working closely with our R&D teams and our product teams, you will translate business requirements and algorithms into production ready code.

  • Your experience working with and managing resources in a scrum environment will enable you to further the success of our team.
