Where the Chemistry Happens
BASF's White Biotechnology is seeking an experienced professional like you to work remotely (albeit being within 1 to 1 ½ hours from a major airport) be able to travel 50%-60% of the time. Self-motivation, self-direction, having a true passion for what you do, and the ability to work independently are keys in this role. Your experience in statistical analysis and associated software (JMP and Minitab preferred) will be advantageous to this position.
Formula for Success
Leveraging your bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering, chemistry, and/or biology and your experience in an ethanol/fermentation production environment as an operations manager, lab manager or technical expert (or similar role), you will lead a technical team in customer applications of all BASF enzyme and chemical products including trial design, planning, execution, advanced data and economic analysis and follow up.
Demonstrating your keen attention to detail, initiative, collaboration, time management, and displaying the needed sense of urgency, you will lead and perform engineering and technical review services for customer retention, resulting in significant financial benefits to customers.
Utilizing your in-depth knowledge of the entire ethanol production process and associated economics, all unit operations, equipment specifications/design and new technologies being applied at the fuel ethanol plants, you will act as technical expert in all ethanol production unit operations for future and existing customers.
Your excellent interpersonal and written & verbal communication skills will serve you well as you lead both external and internal training programs with respect to advanced data analytics, ethanol plant process knowledge, inputs, economics, quality, and safety aspects. You will also use these skills as you provide leadership and feedback to the BASF Enzymes team daily to facilitate an efficient team atmosphere.
Effectively collaborating across the organization, you will support the global sales team in new customer acquisition and existing customer retention, as well as facilitate collaboration between BASF business units . You will also be involved and contribute to sustainability and strategic customer teams.
Your business acumen will be essential as you generate new product value propositions and business cases. This includes developing new product business case presentations to acquire project funding from upper level management.
Successfully engaging outside the organization, you will consult with outside suppliers such as yeast and chemical companies for collaborations with respect to bringing a full package to the ethanol industry.
Acting as a technical liaison, you will translate customers’ needs to the research and development team for the advancement of new products and identify & vet external resources in academia and industry for new product development support. You will also advise the Research and Development team on paths forward as projects develop.
Your strong skills in negotiation and influencing others will be a valued asset as you identify and negotiate with customer plants to beta test new products during the development and commercialization phases.
