Facility Manager, Facilities and Maintenance Engineering - 1802710
Are you a team player that puts customers first, and has a great can-do attitude for solving any type of challenge? BASF Enzymes LLC in San Diego is seeking a technically proficient, organized manager to lead the Facilities and Maintenance Engineering team for the site.
The candidate will work in a dynamic, cross-functional team to develop and implement effective preventative maintenance systems for high tech lab equipment, automation equipment, pilot plant process equipment, and building facilities. The Candidate will play an active role in executing improvements that increase the capacity, flexibility and capability of site assets while managing costs.
This highly customer-focused position offers the opportunity to work in a global multidisciplinary team in a challenging and dynamic environment.
Formula for Success: You Will...
Lead and manage facilities maintenance programs and budgets from a customer-centric perspective.
Be the key liaison between the facility, Landlord/Management company and Key Executive Stakeholders.
Develop, execute and track sitewide preventative maintenance, (PM), repair and calibration programs, and budgets therein.
Lead the facilities and maintenance team as well as manage the site security team.
Bring experience in Site Safety management to within the framework of the BASF's Responsible Care program to safely execute on site repairs, calibrations, and PMs.
Provide troubleshooting support for process operations, and perform continuous improvement studies for existing processes.
Work within multidisciplinary project teams which include Environmental Health & Safety, Regulatory, R&D and Manufacturing teams to design and execute site and laboratory enhancement projects & site permits.
Ingredients for Success...
Educational degree in Engineering or related field and 5 plus years of maintenance management experience, and/or relevant certifications (e.g. PLC programming, electronics, Six Sigma)
Experience in facility and maintenance management in healthcare, biotechnology and/or production line/plant operation
Experience working in a multidisciplinary and fast-paced environment, both independently and in a team setting
Customer centric leadership & management style
Great communication, organizational and problem-solving skills to serve a highly diverse, cross-functional environment
Aptitude in managing calibration and preventative maintenance programs. Experience in a cGMP Biotechnology environment
Understanding of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) objectives, Six Sigma, 5S
Experience implementing maintenance management systems from conception to online status with proven trackable results (e.g. COGZ CMMS)
Experience and operational knowledge relating to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, as well as core building utilities like compressed air, vacuum, waste inactivation, and other skid/building systems
Ability to troubleshoot difficult electrical analog and digital problems
Experience in use of Delta V or similar software
Familiarity with Fermentor / Recovery equipment maintenance
Proficiency in creating, modifying and reviewing CAD drawings, as well as curating an accurate ‘as-built’ drawing document library
