Breeder (2001998)- Saskatoon

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing Yellow Canola (Brassica juncea) hybrids for North America and other markets. Based in Saskatoon, Canada and reporting to the Juncea Breeder, you will work with a strong team of agronomists, pathologists, molecular geneticists and chemists to create products which will expand the area of canola production and bring value to growers.

Formula for Success

  • Your Ph.D. or Master’s degree in plant breeding will be essential as you make strategic decisions for the development and selection of canola hybrids.

  • Your knowledge of molecular tools and methods will be necessary in developing novel solutions to crop development challenges.

  • Your experience working in a plant breeding program will give you practical understanding of efficient resource management.

  • You will have excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • Your experience with database management and data analysis will be essential and a working knowledge of R is an asset.

  • Your knowledge of farm practice and canola production in particular will be important in understanding the targets of the plant breeding program.

  • Your ability to manage complex projects requiring excellent organization and record keeping skills will be important to the success of the program.
