EHS Specialist Sr (2201671)- Seneca ,SC

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to serve as a Sr. Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist at the Seneca, SC chemical manufacturing facility. In this role, you will work with other EHS professionals in the direct support of the occupational safety EHS programs. The BASF Seneca site is in the lakes and mountains region of Upstate South Carolina and close to Greenville.

Your key priorities will include managing, supporting, facilitating, and implementing Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs designed to assure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements (federal, state, local) for the Seneca site. Additional key priorities will include managing parts of the Process Safety Management programs for the site. This involves developing and updating process safety plans and includes leading initiatives to improve overall process safety performance by analyzing past events and using your problem-solving skills to lead innovative solutions.

Although not required, being an Associate Safety Professional or Certified Safety Professional is advantageous in this role.

  • Leveraging your education and work background in EHS, as well as your knowledge of related technologies and regulations, you will provide technical and regulatory expertise to ensure occupational safety compliance at the site as part of a zero-incident mindset.

  • Your unwavering commitment to compliance will be evident as you establish systems to ensure requirements are met and to verify compliance. You will also ensure compliance with RCMS requirements for your area of responsibility.

  • Your experience with Hazard Recognition, Job Hazard Analysis, and Process Hazards Analysis will be a valued asset as you participate in capital project and process hazards analysis reviews consistent with the level of EHS expertise needed.

  • Your demonstrated ability to work in a team environment will serve you well as you participate in the EHS community and advise management. You will also participate in strategy development.

  • Contributing your regulatory expertise and solid understanding of management systems, you will be responsible for permitting, recordkeeping, documentation, and maintaining management systems.

  • Demonstrating your ability to explain complex facts in a non-technical manner, you will develop, arrange, and conduct compliant site training programs based on regulatory and BASF requirements.

  • Relying on your technical expertise, you will be involved in risk assessment activities such as capital project reviews, management of change, industrial hygiene exposure assessment, and Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment’s (HIRA).

  • Your solid organizational skills will be essential as you support KPI tracking, maintain EHS records/databases, and prepare internal and external reports.

  • Applying your focus on workplace health and safety, you will participate in emergency preparedness and response efforts.

  • Collaborating for achievement with your effective communication skills, you will actively participate with the EHS Community.
