Coatings is a growing business that provides automotive coatings to major Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and paint systems to thousands of collision repair shops across North America. Technical Director Automotive Coatings, Americas – Southfield, MI

We are seeking a Technical Director for the Automotive OEM Coatings business. In this role, you will be an active member of the Automotive Coatings Americas Leadership Team and a key member of the Global Technical Community for Coatings. You will be based out of Southfield, Michigan and travel to all locations (globally) to ensure collaboration and “one team” concept for Southfield, Michigan; Tultitlan, Mexico; Demarchi, Brazil; Tortuguitas, Argentina and Mangalore, India.

Formula for Success

  • Tapping into your educational background (PhD and/or MBA a plus), professional experience working within a Technical discipline, and direct or indirect experience working with Research & Development, you will direct the following key aspects:

  • Technical Management:

  • Strategic and Corporate Initiatives

  • Financials and Reporting

  • Team Management

  • Safety and Quality

  • Leveraging your global leadership expertise, you will manage technical activities at multiple sites, drive business results and growth, actively participate in the strategy planning process, and represent the North America ECO R&D community with all global counterparts

  • Your strong project management skills will be a valued asset as you manage large, complex projects for the division, develop project plans to drive innovation and meet performance and cost targets, direct product optimization activities, and ensure product portfolio alignment with customer’s strategies.

  • You will effectively communicate strategy and corporate initiatives to the technical organization on a regular basis to ensure the organization is working as a unified team.

  • As a seasoned people leader and role model, you will foster a collaborative and diverse team environment throughout all departments of the business group.
