BASF Technical Service Manager, Care Chemicals, Industrial Markets, Remote in Southfield, Michigan

As a Technical Service Manager, Industrial Markets, you create chemistry by...

  • Serving as the primary technical liaison for customers and distribution partners to advance technical projects and identify unaddressed customer and market demands to facilitate the transition to commercial revenue

  • Translating identified customers’ needs into actionable and profitable technical projects through collaboration with Application Technology Scientists, Product Development, Marketing and Sales teams

  • Forming and strengthening external technical relationships, developing a plan to leverage such partnerships to enhance business impact and ensure effective joint customer follow-up with sales

  • Recording customer interactions through call reports in Salesforce while building a technical opportunity pipeline that spans from identification to commercialization; this process includes prioritizing opportunities, removing technical barriers, coordination with sales, and providing feedback on both successful and unsuccessful opportunities

  • Exercising your creativity, independent thinking and technical expertise, you will determine the necessary technical application data for execution by Application Technology scientists to deliver a tailored solution to customers.

  • Positioning and articulating BASF Product value proposition, while identifying portfolio gaps and unmet market and customer needs

  • Focusing on growing the business, you will develop the technical strategy essential for supporting strategic growth and fostering relationships with key customers.

  • Multi-tasking with attention to detail, you will manage multiple concurrent customer needs involving a significant degree of complexity.

If you have...

  • Preferably +10 years direct experience in formulating, providing technical service, and/or conducting application work in the field of industrial chemicals (chemical processing/manufacturing, CASE, pulp/textile, and health) with a focus on surfactant technology

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the industrial market (chemical processing and/or CASE) and formulation experience

  • A B.S degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or a related scientific discipline

  • Strong customer focus, a team player with both external and internal stakeholders, understanding customer needs through close interaction / frequent visits and providing solutions that effectively and profitability address those needs.

  • Strong ability to communicate with varying stakeholders (e.g., Technical and Commercial teams, customers, etc.)

  • The ability to influence, strong analytical and interpersonal skills, are detail oriented, a self-starter, proactive and comfortable with ambiguity

Pay transparency

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $132.000 - $165,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
