Lead Production Engineer (2201463) – Sparks, GA

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are looking for a professional like you, a results-oriented leader who can build strong working relationships and function effectively at all levels of the organization, from the production floor to the senior management team. You will lead the site Production Engineering Team and provide technical support for assigned production units.

BASF invested approximately $70 million in capital improvements, which led to 30 new full-time jobs at the Sparks, GA site. This investment illustrates the company’s long-term interest in and support of the community.

In addition to providing jobs in the Sparks region, the plant is also producing agriculture solutions for farmers in Georgia and beyond. The Sparks facility produces granular and liquid fungicides and insecticides – that are helping farmers protect their crops during the times they need it most. Better products and solutions for farmers in Georgia directly contribute to the economic development of local communities .

Formula for Success

  • EHS excellence in area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all regulatory, corporate, site, and RCMS requirements.

  • Drive sustainability in site operations/processes.


  • Identify and implement quality improvements. Ensure that all production of formulations meets regulatory requirements.


  • Act as liaison between R&D, Supply Chain, Marketing, Regulatory and the Sparks Site to introduce new and modified formulations for distribution into the market. Monitor production to ensure compliance with U.S. and International registrations.


  • Lead/manage efforts at the Sparks site for new formulation launches.


  • Develops operating procedures/work instructions for area of responsibility.


  • Engineering/technical support for operations and capital projects.


  • Introduce new technology to support continuous improvement in safety, manufacturing, and cost.


  • Manage Asset Effectiveness program

Ingredients for Success


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Chemistry and substantial, relevant, hands-on experience in manufacturing/operations, engineering, technology and process improvement.


  • 5 years of experience leading Teams/projects and/or supervisory experience


  • Demonstrated expertise in chemical production processes/processing equipment.


  • Demonstrated experience in process troubleshooting and process improvement.


  • Strong interpersonal skills and technical background.


  • Working knowledge of process improvement, process design and optimization, and quality assurance processes and procedures.


  • Demonstrated experience managing/supporting capital projects.



  • Experience in agricultural chemical production/formulation operations

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt training and certification.
