Site Controller (2102730) – Spartanburg (Converse), SC

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to join our team and contribute to the development of the site, as well as to the accounting and finance community. In this role, you will be the first point-of-contact for accounting and financial guidance to leadership teams at this BASF manufacturing location.

In addition, you will ensure transparency for decision-making for the Site Leadership Team to execute decisions that impact the site and business, as well as provide financial and accounting guidance and solutions, fixed manufacturing reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and translating the operational activities at the site into financial results.

Formula for Success:

  • Leveraging your Bachelor's degree or higher and your background in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, you will provide strategic financial counsel and support to the Site Leadership.

  • Relying upon your relevant accounting understanding, you will lead in the management and development of the assigned accounting staff to maximize productivity and efficiency, as well as ensure clarity in accountabilities and expectations among personnel.

  • Utilizing your ability to interface with management and effectively communicate to influence decisions, you will create and communicate relevant financial analyses to the associated business management personnel, providing meaningful insight into CCM performance, as well as ensure that site personnel possess sufficient financial knowledge to understand the P/L implications of activities occurring in their area of responsibility.

  • Displaying your exceptional learning agility to apply technical knowledge and facilitate effective decision-making in a static or changing environment, you will direct the preparation of the site’s Operating Plan/Forecast, while assuring accuracy and reasonableness of all forward-looking data used for business group projections. You will also ensure the annual rate development process in PMC supports the annual spending plan.

  • Your metal accounting experience and knowledge of the precious metal industry will be a valued asset, as you manage the site’s annual physical inventory, and oversee precious metal controls, physical inventory compilation – pricing, reconciliation & booking, as well as approve precious metal posting & reconciliations & variances by process orders.

  • Demonstrating your robust knowledge of cost accounting and inventory control methods, you will be responsible for general and cost accounting, which includes systems and procedures to ensure the accurate and timely financial reporting of site performance. You will also manage daily cost center spending, in alignment with the Fixed Cost Budget and Cost Center Owners/Leaders.

  • Your and ability to work with tight daily and month-end deadlines will be essential, as you provide support to site management to ensure the availability of data for analysis and reporting, create & post accounting journal entry adjustments, and accruals monthly, as well as report on Fixed Manufacturing Cost – Budget to Actual and explain variances.

  • Combining your excellent knowledge of accounting principles, theories, and internal controls, and your experience with onsite audits, you will interpret, direct, and ensure compliance with Corporate Accounting Policies and procedures, ensure that adequate internal controls are maintained so that inventories, M&E, and other company assets are protected during all phases of plant operations, ensure FRC Controls, as well as coordinate with external auditors.
