Plant Operator (2103138) – Washington, NJ
This position is at the Washington, NJ Surfactant Plant in the Prill Production and Shipping / Receiving Departments.
The main process is a batch spray cooling operation, processing molten polyol surfactant into a solid "prill" form. This position requires operation of the spray chilling tower and auxiliary equipment, including bulk storage and feed tanks, refrigeration units, and package loading equipment. This position will also encompass shipping, receiving, and warehousing tasks that support the production process, for example, the offloading of molten polyol surfactant from bulk tankers, the warehousing of the finished product, and loading of outgoing box truck shipments.
Close attention to temperatures and feed rates is required for proper operation. Startup and shutdowns can occur relatively frequently and require close attention.
Minor maintenance repairs and troubleshooting duties are required to be performed occasionally as part of this position.
Good documentation practices and the ability to follow written procedures is necessary.
Effective communication skills within the workgroup and with other departments/shifts is necessary, both verbally and electronically through email.
General working computer knowledge is preferred, this position utilizes a PC based process control system, as well as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and SAP for planning and communication.
Operation of mobile equipment such as fork trucks is required.
Potential for additional responsibilities to support new production initiatives and processes as they develop.

This position will work three (3) shifts on a rotating basis, five (5) days per week, eight (8) hour shifts, with overtime as required.
This position is under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor and Operations Coordinator.
Formula for Success: You Will…
Have general knowledge of spray chiller operation, proper methods of handling both manual and automatic controls.
Ability to use judgement to make changes during to the processes to assure safe and efficient operation, as well as producing a product that meets all of the required quality specifications.
General working knowledge of tank trailers, rail cars, and their layout and operation.
Working knowledge of general plant operation and supporting utilities.
Sufficient manual dexterity to operate valves, pumps, switches, connect hoses, etc.
Ability to perform light maintenance work, such as adjusting packing on pumps and valves using small hand tools.
Agility to work on different levels, requiring the climbing of stairs, walking on metal walkways and grating, working at heights, etc.
Ability to work in areas both inside and outside in varying weather conditions.

High School Diploma or GED required.
Must have at least 1 year of manufacturing experience.
Forklift experience is preferred.
Mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills preferred.
SAP experience preferred.
Yard tractor and trailer movement experience preferred.
