Senior Scientist - Digital Phenotyping (2000114) – West Sacramento, CA

Where the Chemistry Happens…

We are seeking a professional like you who is interested in supporting our digital strategy from our research center in California (West Sacramento, future: Davis) as part of a global team of digital phenotyping experts. Are you an expert in technology integration in an industry environment? Do you have experience in Digital Phenotyping applications or plant biology and the technologies used in the seed industry? Are you eager to creatively drive our vision to create better quality data that increase the success rate of our decisions? Formula for Success: You Will…

  • You are the prime contact point in North and Latin America between end-users within the company and the digital phenotyping group to listen and understand the regional needs and demands, and to foster data-driven decision making

  • Creatively drive our vision to create better quality data that increase the success rate of our decisions

  • Actively manage organizational expectations and perceptions around the topic of digital phenotyping

  • Accountable for complex projects with an inter-departmental focus and through this contribute to (new) technologies, publications, intellectual property, or trade secrets

  • Balancing your portfolio consisting of planned projects and ad hoc advice

  • Build and maintain a network that supports the best-in-industry innovation environment through timely identifying leading edge technologies, knowledge exchange, collaboration, talent binding and mindset. You will be supported by the scouting and alliance manager

  • Implement the group strategy by combining internal and external assets, knowledge and expertise. Keep up-to-date with respect to scientific developments and analyze potential impacts of new technologies

  • Willingness to travel in North and Latin America and to Europe (max. 10%)


  • PhD with minimum of four years relevant experience, or master’s degree with minimum of eight years relevant experience

  • Proven experience in technology integration, e.g. in High-throughput phenotyping, image analysis, computer vision or machine learning

  • Knowledge of biological systems or genetics, preferably in the context of plant breeding.

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Language skills: English (fluent), Spanish is a plus
