Statistics Scientist (1904357) – West Sacramento, CA

Where the Chemistry Happens…

We are seeking a professional like you to contribute to increasing the success rate in breeding and research programs through data-driven decision making. In this role, you will be responsible for the implementation of the statistics strategy by identifying quantitative genetics/breeding statistics opportunities in the organization and by building solutions that are readily accepted.

Formula for Success

  • Leveraging your master’s degree in plant or animal breeding, plant genetics, plant biology, crop science or related discipline with a minimum of five years’ hands on experience in the vegetable seeds or related industry OR a PhD in plant or animal breeding, plant genetics, plant biology, crop science or related discipline with a minimum of three years’ experience in the vegetable seeds or related industry - You will conduct statistical research with tools for data analysis, statistical computation, and visualization (such as Python, R); and utilize your programing and pipeline development skills integrating large, complex datasets from distinctive structured and unstructured sources in interpreting complex data and providing data driven solutions.

  • Demonstrating your technical expertise working with complex, multi-source, and biological datasets typical of agricultural systems with applications in (plant) breeding and the technologies used in the vegetable seeds industry will be vital to enhance characterization within breeding programs for multiple crops.

  • Successfully engaging across the organization, you will proactively identify and prioritize research opportunities, develop sustainable solutions, execute operational plans, and effectively manage business relationships designed to champion continuous improvement to ensure strategic forward planning and alignment within and across teams.

  • Your strong business acumen and proven ability to develop, deliver, and deploy analytical solutions will be essential as you communicate (present) and prepare research insights and results.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%.

  • Language skills: Fluent in English required, Spanish a plus.
