Where the Chemistry Happens

This position is responsible for supervising, directing, and controlling the work of the hourly rated employees in meeting the goals of safe, efficient and timely repairs, maintenance of the facility and equipment, maintaining the preventive maintenance program, encouraging and promoting the maintenance training program and act as Emergency Response Coordinator. Also responsible for ensuring compliance with Corporate and Governmental regulations to maintain accurate records for supporting compliance. Control the maintenance Department budget and Supervise the contractors where required.

Principal Responsibilities – Supervise and direct the work of the Maintenance Mechanics and Instrument / Electrical Technicians to complete work orders and maintain site equipment and facilities in a safe manner. Install, maintain and troubleshoot process computer hardware and software to ensure operating reliability and process trace ability.

  2. Control the safety performance of the work force within established policies.

  3. Maintain plant buildings, grounds, equipment and safety devices in a safe and efficient manner as well as participate in start-up training, testing and troubleshooting.

  4. Provide information regarding service to equipment to provide accurate information to SAP preventive maintenance system and recommend profit improvement ideas.

  5. Support capital project plans by effectively utilizing necessary contract and engineering resources to deliver the project on time and within budget.

  6. Assist emergency response coordinator.

  7. Work closely with engineer’s on projects as well as maintenance issues

  8. Administer the Collective Agreement.

  • ØBroad in-depth experience in the maintenance of facilities, equipment, and safety devices.ØAbility to direct and motivate subordinates.ØFamiliarity with and adherence to legislative and Corporate policies particularly as they relate to health and safety, environment, building codes and fire prevention.ØAbility to communicate with peers, subordinates and supervisors particularly in the areas of job instruction, quality and performance.ØDemonstrated ability to work with vendors and contractors.ØAbility to work with computerized preventive maintenance systems (SAP).
