Adhesive Applications Business Development Manager (1902206) – Wyandotte, MI

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to identify adhesives opportunities and support Sales, Technical Service and Marketing as needed. In this role, you will facilitate the deployment of the business process and translation package. You will also work to meet or exceed established project or sales targets. Additionally, you will cultivate and establish relationships with global customers and BASF colleagues.

Travel for this role is expected to be approximately 50% of the time to customer facilities within North America, occasionally Asia and Europe.

Formula for Success

  • Leveraging your education and Polyurethane adhesives applications experience in Reactive Hot Melt, 1K and 2K technologies, you will conduct customer adhesive needs assessments including process audits and make recommendations for chemical / application / process or equipment solutions.

  • Working independently with limited oversight, you will translate customer needs into requirements for product development by establishing a target performance profile.

  • Your chemistry and formulating knowledge in Polyurethane Reactive Hot Melts, 1K and 2K technologies will be essential as you coordinate and conduct experiments or trials within BASF or the customers’ facility that lead to sustainable sales.

  • Your flexibility for overnight travel and working hours to meet customer requirements will be necessary as you develop relationships with global adhesives equipment suppliers by coordinating and conducting trials at equipment supplier locations.

  • Your effective communication skills will serve you well as you train Sales and Technical Service colleagues and guide customers in adhesives application.

  • Thinking “outside the box”, you will present ideas and results to build our team’s network and reputation.

  • Using your experience working with various global equipment configurations, a clear understanding of the pertinent processing parameters and influencing factors, and your mechanical/technical aptitude, you will adapt to evolving work requirements and technology.

  • Your keen attention to detail will be evident as you create and maintain accuracy of key customer information in the CRM system, including contacts, sales visits, opportunities, trip reports, e-mails, phone calls, etc.

  • Your solid business acumen will be a valued asset as you assist in budget and project planning and manage & control expenses within allocated budget.
