Control Engineer - Cellasto (2201421) – Wyandotte, MI

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving standardization, optimization of existing equipment as well as design and implementation of new technologies in conjunction with our Global COC team and the other plant engineers. With a strong cost focus you will be working closely with multiple disciplines such as Process Management and Maintenance to ensure that Capital Projects as well as necessary repairs are appropriately supported with electrical and controls engineering resources. You will also be instrumental in leading troubleshooting efforts when problems arise, acting as solution provider.

Additionally, you will participate in the development and implementation of the automation strategy within the technology (with global and regional resources), identify and implement Process Optimization / Lean Opportunities within the technology, and demonstrate leadership in safe plant operation and adherence to BASF Process Safety rules and policies.

Formula for Success

  • Your problem-solving ability, design capabilities and knowledge of PLC, controls, and electrical systems will be essential to ensure the integrity and smooth operation of the control systems and collection of necessary data for process improvements.

  • Using your skills and experience you will be a responsible member of a team of I&E Engineers, working in assigned areas, and supporting capital projects based on overall plant strategy and for day-to-day responsibilities, to ensure smooth plant operation.

  • As the member of the I&E Engineering team you will actively share and transfer necessary knowledge to the other team members developing them further.

  • Your ability to think strategically will be essential as you provide data analysis and root cause analysis to solve problems on a day-to-day basis, with a focus on cost and strategic objectives.

  • Leveraging your Bachelors degree or higher in Electrical or Controls Engineering and your years of field design, commissioning and troubleshooting experience related to controls equipment, you will provide support to the plant in troubleshooting / upgrading of the equipment and train the plant's maintenance staff where required.

  • Working collaboratively, you will assist Process Management, Shift Supervision and Maintenance Team in the coordination, planning, and execution of shutdown or turnaround work including maintenance and capital activities.

  • Successfully engaging across the global business, collaborating with Engineering and COCs, you will use your knowledge of control systems to support Capital Plan and Project Execution of existing and future Capital projects as a Manufacturing Representative.

  • Your analytical thinking will be vital as you design, program, and commission electrical and pneumatic control systems and lead modifications of existing systems.

  • Your Siemens and Modicon PLC, industrial robot, and SCADA programming experience in manufacturing will be important to integrating controls equipment into MFC/SCADA systems.

  • Your strong organizational skills and ability to use CAD and Microsoft Office software will be valued assets as you ensure proper documentation of operating files, records, procedures, and technical files and the annual recertification of their applicability.
