Industrial Mobility Digital Solution Engineer (2201822)- Freeport, TX / Wyandotte, MI

Where the Chemistry Happens

Digitalization of Production and Technology (DoPT) – Industrial Mobility (IM) is focused on positioning BASF to lead the digital transformation in chemicals. A cross discipline team is working to create digital solutions that improves BASF’s competitiveness across the value chain, including business models, research, supply chain, and everything within manufacturing. The Industrial Mobility topic is active in Germany, along with regions across the globe. DoPT Industrial Mobility is supported by NA manufacturing leadership to guide North American manufacturing in its digital journey.

The successful candidate will be a global team member supporting a NA sub-region with digital solution implementation efforts to ensure successful adoption of Industrial Mobility solutions. This candidate will be located at a large NA site creating value in safety, efficiency, reliability, and overall operational excellence.

It is a requirement that this candidate will have training in lean six sigma (minimum yellow belt), mindset and behavior (minimum Catalyst) and participate in the ERP for BASF leader’s course.

A technical bachelor’s degree is preferred and/or 5 years manufacturing/production experience.

Formula for Success

You Will…

  • Utilize your experience or learn:

  • The BASF layered network architecture

  • Microsoft applications including Forms, PowerApps, Power Automate, Power BI

  • Connectivity and troubleshooting of mobile devices

  • Use existing Digital Vision and intent of Industrial Mobility: BASF framework to implement globally/Regionally aligned solutions.

  • Develop understanding of site operations needs and opportunities with respect to mobile apps to prepare plants to adopt new solutions.

  • Champion and communicate activities that have potential of crossing multiple digitalization product families / service groups.

  • Lead development and implementation of possible new digital solutions relevant to the manufacturing community.

  • Collaborate, Coordinate, track and communicate to stakeholders the roll-out process and determine site acceptance of digital technologies.

  • Coordinate / manage / configuration of device inventory.

  • Mentor and provide guidance for continuous improvement/technical resources at the site.

  • Tactical Activities to include, but not limited to:

Preparation phase

  • Gather / validate requirements from users and business experts

  • Support as regional expert in the definition of the scope of Industrial Mobility mobile apps and devices for the rollout to site/plants

  • Identification of customer demand and communication to Industrial Mobility leadership

  • Support in creation of regional and local support concepts


  • Implementation of IM solution in the plant

  • Support identification of required structural/infrastructure changes


  • Coordinate and support Functional Test (FT) as applicable

  • Support User Acceptance Test (UAT) preparation and execution

  • Support preparation of master data and transactional data


  • Support implementation of training & qualification concepts on plant level

  • Prepare and perform key user trainings together with business experts

  • Support end user trainings

Go Live

  • Prepare and support IM app piloting at site/plants

  • Perform required go live activities

  • Perform go live and post go live support on plant level until completion

  • Execute and support service transition to sustainment
