EHS Hub Leader is based in the Midwest and supports sites in Ohio, Michigan, and Canada. BASF’s largest site in Wyandotte, MI spans more than 244 acres and hosts multiple manufacturing plants and functional groups that produce a variety of products. This site employs about 1500 full-time and contract employees. In addition, Wyandotte and Southfield sites support a large Research and Development community of >800 full-time and contract employees. The Ohio, Michigan, and Canada Hub supports 26 production sites, 15 agricultural sites, 4 laboratories, Remote sales and technical communities and several corporate offices with approximately 4,500 full-time and contract employees.

EHS Hub Leader supervises a team of 30 EHS professionals and oversees overall management of the EHS programs at the hub sites. As a member of the Environmental and Safety Services Leadership Team reporting to the VP of Environmental and Safety Services, the Leader supports an extensive network of Site Managers, Unit Managers, Operations Directors, Operations & R&D VP’s, several business Senior Vice Presidents and the Canadian Country President. The position also functions as a member of the Wyandotte Site Leadership Team under the direction of the Vice President and General Manager of the Wyandotte & Southfield Sites.

The position manages and coordinates defined day-to-day EHS responsibilities for sites in the Ohio, Michigan, and Canada Hub. Responsible for EHS personnel, budget and activities supporting assigned Hub sites.

Formula for success. You will…..

  • Drive sustainable Occupational Safety and Process Safety measures and initiatives throughout the hub leading to risk reduction and overall improvement in EHS KPIs

  • Closely collaborate and partner with the BU’s and Country/Hub team on establishing yearly priorities and targets

  • Establish in conjunction with the Vice President Site EHS Services and each site manager, the EH&S services necessary to achieve the aligned goals of the site’s business and the EHS organization; conduct reviews and realignment as needed

  • Lead defined EH&S services and programs needed at each site in the Hub through a shared resources concept

  • Implement strategies to support site and business objectives and to capitalize on opportunities to add value

  • Maintain effective relationships with Site Management, Manufacturing, Technical Engineering Services and the appropriate Federal, State and Local regulatory agencies

  • Manage and coordinate resources and talent within the Hub to ensure all requirements are met in the best interests of BASF

  • Support community relations activities on behalf of BASF as well as industry associations
