We are seeking an EHS Specialist position in the Wyandotte, MI Hub.

Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist (1801330) – Wyandotte, MI

Formula for Success: You Will…

  • Collaborate with manufacturing and laboratory partners and provide technical and regulatory support to ensure environmental compliance, continuous improvement, and leadership of environmental programs.

  • Support the interface with regulatory agencies and third parties, as needed, on compliance and enforcement issues.

  • Use compliance management system tools to ensure environmental tasks are completed at the sites.

  • Ensure compliance with site air permits, EPCRA 311, 312 and 313 reporting, and preparation of hazardous waste Biennial Reports.

  • Obtain all relevant permit, inventory, and consumption data from SAP database transactions and other sources.

  • Responsible Care (RC) report coordination for assigned sites.

  • Assist in the investigation of air, water, waste water, storm water, and hazardous waste management deviations.

  • Participate in the root cause analysis (RCA) process and assist in the development and implementation of corrective actions to prevent/reduce deviations for the sustainable operations of the units/site.

  • Coordinate with the Centers of Expertise (CoEs) on development of processes and initiatives to ensure continuous improvement with environmental programs.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or Environmental Engineering/Sciences.

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in Engineering and/or working in a chemical manufacturing environment and/or an Environmental role

  • General working knowledge of environmental regulations/programs.

  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Strong problem-solving skills; data-driven with an affinity for data management.

  • Strong skills related to teamwork, interpersonal relationships, communications, customer-focus, work management, and results-orientation.

  • Background in environment or health and safety in manufacturing is a plus. Experience in process safety preferred.

  • SAP experience in creating purchase requisitions and purchase orders and/or additional SAP experience desired.

  • Approximately 15% travel to EHS Hubs required.
