We are seeking a professional like you with educational and experience in a Mechanical Maintenance discipline for the BASF, Wyandotte, MI Thermoplastics plant. BASF’sPerformance Materials business responds quickly to customer needs, without cutting corners to sacrifice safety or quality. The business services a wide range of customers, in many different markets, from footwear, cabling, hose applications, automotive, etc. The maintenance technicians within the TPU Plant must adapt to change safely, quickly, and efficiently while maintaining the highest quality requirements. The Mechanical Maintenance technician supports and repairs the equipment that manufactures thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) to meet our customer needs.
During your shift as a Mechanical maintenance technician, you will
Work with and on Mechanical equipment suchGear boxes, Drive couplings, Agitators, Pumps, Mechanical seals, Rigging, Welding, and pipe fabrication.Install, maintain, and optimize site equipment to provide a safe operation with maximum production availability, including Silos, extruders, storage tanks, conveyor belts and other machinery.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and solve mechanical issues on stationary and rotational equipment. Works with maintenance supervision, other technicians, engineers, and production personnel to design plant equipment and modifications. Demonstrates a team-oriented behavior in daily tasks.
Read, comprehend, and execute tasks and concepts found in technical operating and maintenance manuals, and other written documents. Make recommendations to improve existing processes to improve safety, effectiveness, and efficiency.
Improve equipment reliability by maintaining, analyzing, troubleshooting, and utilizing all resources available. Findings reported to supervision with appropriate recommendations.
Work in a safe manner and adheres to all safety regulations. Exercises safe work practices and housekeeping.
If you have...
An Associate degree in a related field.
Completed an accredited trades program and possess a Journeyman’s certificate or better.
Certifications in welding, or other related trade, it would be benefitial.
Minimum 5 years of experience troubleshooting components including pumps, agitators, extruders, and conveyor belts.
General Physical Requirements:
The ability to climb portable step, extension ladders, work at elevated heights, climb vertical and fixed ladders with ladder cages.
The ability to push and pull up to 75 lbs, twist, turn and reach above shoulder level. Carrying up to 50 lbs.
A simple to firm grasping ability.
The ability of bending, kneeling, squatting, and crawling.
The Ability to wrist turning and finger manipulation.
This position is part of a job family with multiple levels. The successful candidate will be placed into the appropriate grade level commensurate with their qualifications.
