The GEC/GPM Technologies Team in Wyandotte provides engineering solutions to Performance Materials within the region. We are seeking a professional like you to provide chemical process engineering expertise in support of capital projects and initiatives. In this role, you will work closely with other discipline engineers, project managers, and manufacturing representative personnel to provide complex engineering solutions. You will be responsible for providing process engineering expertise for new chemical plants, expansions and debottlenecking of existing plants, and infrastructure facilities. You will also collaborate with other process engineers (in-house and/or third-party engineering contractors) from different locations during all phases of the projects. You will be responsible for creating and reviewing design documentation and understanding how the designs interact with manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability, and develop best practices within the production process. Your strong customer focus and capabilities to closely interact with different organizational levels and quality orientation/attention to detail will be keys to your success in this role.

As a Process Engineer I, You Create Chemistry By...

• Utilizing your process engineering knowledge and expertise, you will build and develop customized process engineering know-how specific to supporting the Performance Materials manufacturing processes.

• Participating in BASF auditing processes, HAZOP studies, project safety reviews, and site and regional process safety peer groups.

• Supporting the economic and technical evaluations of alternatives for investment projects while also identifying and executing process improvements and optimizations related to improving efficiency, capability, and safety.

• Partnering with project managers, manufacturing representatives, engineering partners, and other key technical personnel to complete scoping and design phases of capital projects and continuous improvement efforts.

• Working with Technology and Operations to identify and develop the scope for new projects to develop a cost-effective and working production process and conduct project design reviews with key stakeholders.

• Ensuring all plant personnel are fully compliant with OSHA and BASF plant-specific safety procedures.

If you...

• Have a BS in Chemical Engineering.

• Possess an understanding of process equipment design including pumps, heat exchangers, vessels, etc.

• Are able to apply process tools to design piping systems, calculate pressure relief valve sizes, complete material and energy balances, and perform process optimization studies.

• Know CAPE applications (ASPEN, HYSYS, PSV-Calc, Pipe-flo, etc.) as a plus.

• Are familiar with engineering, purchasing, accounting, and construction practices and extensive process experience, proven leadership abilities in a chemical or petrochemical manufacturing environment,

• Have sufficient communication and computer skills.
