Research Technician I – (2200018) – Wyandotte, MI
Where the Chemistry Happens
We are seeking a professional like you to join our team as a research technician of experimental safety, conduct testing and provide critical information for decision making in process safety assessment.
Formula for Success
Leveraging your education and experiences in science-related fields, you will be responsible for conducting, recording, and reporting the safety experiments, standard or customized, to support technical knowledge in order or help business units gathering essential and critical information for safe process.
Conduct high-quality safety testing including dust explosion, fire hazard analysis, exothermic reaction assessment, calorimetry, UN/DOT tests, etc, to serve BASF internal partners.
Participate in industrial standard safety testing committee to exchange experiences, while keeping BASF technical community of process safety informed on up-to-date testing procedures.
Complete experimental safety analysis based on customer request and discussion with team members or guidance from supervisors, following documented methods and communicating with fellow colleagues about the testing procedure and results; document the initial findings in lab reports.
Maintain standard operating procedures and job safety assessment for the lab.
Troubleshoot equipment and participate in round robin tests internally and externally to ensure the quality and accuracy of measurements.
Develop self and others by accepting trainings from NA or other regions on new experimental capabilities and sharing findings with lab members.
Additional duties which a Laboratory Technician may carry out include EHS duties in the lab and of the unit, purchase essential parts, managing inventory on consumables, book services from 3rd-party companies, and participate in the site/unit safety activities.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…
High School Diploma or GED required
1 years of experience working in a laboratory setting required
1 years of experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.) required
Bachelor’s Degree or Associates Degree in a technical major is preferred
SAP experience is preferred
Handling of hazardous material experience preferred
Proven problem-solving skills and Analytical skills
Good organization skills with an ability to manage priorities and multi-task
Good verbal and written communication skills
