Scientist III (Emulsion Polymerization) - 1803248
This position is for a research scientist within the Global Materials and Systems Research group with responsibility for developing new technology and products for waterborne coatings applications. In this role you will be responsible for:
Conducting synthetic polymer research to develop new products for coatings applications
Developing new technology platforms to support future business needs
Developing innovation pipeline of projects through interactions with business units and other research groups
Formula for Success: You Will…
Use your PhD in polymer chemistry, physical chemistry, material science or chemical engineering AND experience with polymer colloids or emulsion polymerization to conceptualize, plan and execute polymer synthesis approaches within multi-disciplinary and international teams to develop new products and technology to meet business needs
Combine synthesis skills with physical-chemical knowledge to develop technology platforms and new products based on structure property relationships
Establish and maintain a safe and healthy work environment through implementation of company and site safety policies/procedures.
Present and document research results
Conceptualize, present and champion concepts for new products and technologies
Manage a laboratory team
Direct activities of assigned technician(s) toward achieving project objectives, and mentor their career development;
Ingredients for Success…
Polymer colloid and/or emulsion polymerization synthesis experience
Understanding of structure-property relationships in polymer science
Broad expertise and interest in the field of synthetic polymer work and material science
Creative, curious with a high degree of motivation and personal responsibility
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Capable of working on interdisciplinary and international teams
Ability to develop and promote new technical concepts relevant to business needs.
