Staff Process Engineer (2103252) – Wyandotte, MI
Where the Chemistry Happens
We are seeking a professional like you to be a results-oriented leader who can build strong working relationships and function effectively at all levels of the organization. You will think strategically to mitigate risks, solve problems, and deliver value to BASF.
In this role, you will support capital projects through all phases of the project lifecycle. You will also be responsible for driving process safety excellence, engaging in preparation and execution of RC and PSM audits, and supporting operating units with continuous improvement activities and troubleshooting.
Formula for Success
Leverage your experience operating and designing material conveyance and solids handling systems while you serve as our local subject matter expert in this space. Example systems: loss in weight feeders; dilute phase conveyance; bulk bag loading and unloading.
A core responsibility of this role is ensuring that pressure relief systems are properly designed, installed, and maintained. Beyond base experience with pressure relief systems, exposure to some or all of the following areas will be valued:
Two Phase Flow
Explosion Panel Design
Material property data simulation
Electrically Classified Areas
You will leverage your capital investment project background to ensure that objectives are met on investment projects up to $15M. This will require integration with project teams to support scope development and basic engineering through detailed design and implementation. Experience with process design and specification of equipment is critical.
Your commitment to workplace/plant safety will be evident as you participate in BASF auditing processes, HAZOP studies, project safety reviews, and site and regional process safety peer groups.
Focusing on efficiency, continuous improvement, and cost-effective investments, you will support the economic and technical evaluation of alternatives for investment projects while also identifying and executing process improvements and optimization actions related to improving efficiency, capability, and safety.
Your CAD and/or drafting experience will ensure that you are able to articulate, draw, and effectively communicate solutions and ideas.
Leveraging your engineering bachelors degree or higher, extensive process experience, and proven leadership abilities in a chemical or petrochemical manufacturing environment, you will provide leadership and mentoring to the junior Process Engineers in the group.
