Technical Service Specialist (2201805) – Wyandotte, MI

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you who is focused on contributing to the Monomers (CM) Team’s effort to increase our position in the CASE Market (Poly-Iso Technology). Secondarily, you will support new business development and commercial launch activities in the CASE distribution channel including testing, customer trials, and interface to the value chain players in the CASE technical community. We will rely on you to bring technical solutions to our customers in the CASE Market Segment.

Travel for this role is expected to be approximately 25% within North America.

Formula for Success

  • Leveraging your education and experience in chemistry, physics, engineering or a related technical area, you will perform hands-on laboratory work for technical service projects. This includes customer support for the national account managers.

  • Demonstrating your record of successful industry experience in all Rigid Insulation / Polyurethane applications – including formulation and testing, you will use your in-depth technical know-how on the specific product line, test methods for the industry and/or product use in industry specific application in order to sell more of BASF product in industry/sub-segment. Additionally, you will support test method development in conjunction with external test method societies.

  • Working successfully as an individual contributor, you will develop CASE raw material solutions.

  • Your ability to identify R&D opportunities through interaction and knowledge of markets, industry and customers will be essential as you stay current with trends, development, and innovations in focus industries and the relevant product lines, maintain knowledge of customer application testing, and support business growth through paper presentations at trade shows/conferences, training of direct and indirect customers.

  • As a successful team player, you will provide on-site customer support for national account managers if in-depth product support is needed.

  • Your unwavering commitment to compliance will be evident as you work to maintain compliance with EH&S and ISO standards at a minimum.

  • Your effective written and verbal communication skills will serve you well as you lead (with assistance from Corporate EH&S function) customer site training in the safe handling and use of BASF isocyanates and other materials.
