Where the Chemistry Happens…
TPU Plant Operator (2103139) – Wyandotte, MI
TPU Operators are responsible for the production of finished goods by safely operating a wide variety of manufacturing equipment. Operators are required to (but not limited to) do any combination of the following:
Operate compressors, pumps, reactors, extruders, feeders, heat exchangers, steam boilers, valves, tanks, pressure vessels, instrument control systems, fork trucks, hoists, scales, lab testing equipment, computers, and other associated manufacturing equipment.
Control flows, pressures, reactions, temperatures, makeup of material(s) from batch sheets and formula cards, transfer of solutions/batches, loading/unloading chemicals to and from tanks, trucks, and rail cars.
Handle various hazardous chemicals (potentially including PSM/RMP covered chemicals and working in PSM and/or RMP facilities)
Identify and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including an air purifying respirator.
Work in all weather conditions and outdoors.
Work a 12-hour rotating shift with overtime as required.
Maintain medical clearances required for work area, potentially including: respirator, mobile equipment operator, HAZWOPER, hearing conservation, di-isocyanates, and/or oxides clearance(s).
Cross train in additional production areas and support other members of the team in achieving a task or solving a problem.
Disassemble and clean plant equipment, piping, and vessels.
Support and continually apply all Quality Improvement, Safety, Ecology and Legal Compliance policies and procedures.
Recognize and eliminate safety hazards. Accept and demonstrate personal accountability for EHS performance.
Demonstrate sound judgment by adhering to EHS requirements while planning and executing a job.
Perform all necessary production/sampling/testing to ensure product meets specifications and tolerances for in-process product and release specifications for shipment of the product.
Effectively work with minimal supervision.
Operate and manage (troubleshoot) their respective areas and make safe, prompt, and effective decisions.
Occasionally handle drums and drum dollies.
Additional duties are designated by the respective areas.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to climb ladders/stairs and work at heights.
Ability to work in tight or closed-in spaces.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…
High School Diploma or GED required.
Must have at least 1 year of chemical operator experience.
Forklift experience is preferred.
Mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills preferred
SAP experience preferred.
DCS / HMI experience preferred.
Working knowledge of ISO/IATF16949 preferred.
Working knowledge of common industrial safe work practices preferred.
