Wyandotte Resin Quality Assurance Technician – Wyandotte, Michigan – (1705588)

This position reports to the Wyandotte Resins Quality Group Leader.

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for quality assurance testing of raw materials, intermediates, and finished product streams for the Wyandotte Resin and Dispersion Plant (WYDR) by conducting analytical testing on resins, resin cuts and emulsions in support of a 24/7 ISO 9001:2015 manufacturing operation. Evaluation of analytical data testing is based on both internal and external specifications.

Daily responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluate incoming Raw Materials

  • Interact with the Operations Team to expedite shipment to customers utilizing SAP

  • Perform key tests include the safe, accurate and timely measurement of non-volatile, pH, viscosity, sediment, optical density, acid number, particle determination, bacteria determination, and free monomer by gas chromatography.

  • Utilize analytical methodology and an insight into problem solving on a daily basis.

Our Quality Assurance Technicians will be expected to:

  • Follow both written and verbal instructions, as well as all applicable safety procedures including wearing correct personal protective equipment.

  • Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment and interact with management and employees within the organization.

  • On occasion, will lift up to 49 lbs.

  • Work on a 12-hour rotating shift with 24/7 coverage

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent education

  • 2 years laboratory experience operating various controlled lab equipment and instruments (college laboratory experience is acceptable)

  • 1 year experience in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Chemistry or 2 year Technical degree in Analytical Testing, Chemistry or related field.

  • Knowledge of SPC

  • Knowledge of ISO certification

  • Manufacturing industry experience

  • Emulsion polymerization products, laboratory testing and practices.

  • Experience with SAP.

  • Experience running GC, HPLC, NIR, Viscometers, spectrophotometers, and other wet chemistry instruments.
